Cabin Park Revegetation

Description of the project to remove invasive weeds and restore native vegetation to the West Hylebos Wetlands buffer at the Historical Cabin Park

As part of our effort to protect and enhance the forest health of the West Hylebos Wetlands, the Friends began in 2006 to reforest the wetland's edge at the Historical Cabin Park.

Cabin Park Volunteers

Over two years, crews and volunteers removed Himalayan blackberry from more than 90,000 square feet of parkland.

Cabin Park Fabric

Black landscape fabric was laid down and left in place for two growing seasons to knock back any remaining blackberry roots.

Beginning in 2007 and extending for several years, volunteers and crews will plant thousands of native trees and shrubs at this site to bring back a healthy native plant community for people to enjoy and for wildlife to live and thrive in.
