Restoration of the former dairy farm site began in November of 1999. The city of Federal Way removed an old road crossing and blocked culvert, built 90 feet of new stream channel and repaired a log weir step ladder at the S. 359th Street culvert.

On Earth Day 2000, the Friends organized its first ever volunteer native planting project. King County Executive Ron Sims welcomed 85 volunteers for a great day of work planting more than 600 native trees and shrubs.
Today, those plants are thriving, growing tall and reforesting this key piece of Hylebos Creek habitat.
