Habitat Conservation Projects

Summary of Hylebos preservation and restoration projects

The Friends works to preserve and restore priority habitats within the Hylebos Creek Conservation Initiative area. These connected, functional habitat corridor will provide habitat for native salmon and wildlife, and beautiful, protected open space for community quality of life and passive recreation.

The Friends identifies, designs and implements restoration projects that will contribute to restoring wildlife habitat and healthy forests. We also promote and support restoration projects that can be implemented by other agencies.

The Friends' restoration work provides great opportunities for local residents to get involved in restoring their watershed. The Friends works to incorporate volunteer restoration activities into each of its restoration projects. In the period from 2000-2006, more than 1,100 volunteers have worked on Hylebos restoration, contributing more than 5,000 hours of volunteer labor for their watershed. People are making a difference for the Hylebos!
