Karileen Partnership
General Metals was the first private business to contact the Friends for help finding a suitable mitigation site. The company has outstanding mitigation needs related to the Hylebos Waterway Superfund Clean-up. They were hoping to find a site that would not only satisfy their mitigation obligation, but would have high value to the surrounding ecosystem.
After learning the scope of mitigation needed, we worked with the company's consultants to identify and review several sites, finally settling on the Karileen Property, a 10-acre parcel on the West Branch of Hylebos Creek, just downstream of Spring Valley Ranch. The company purchased the site in 2003 and is currently planning a stream and wetland restoration project, scheduled for 2007.
